Mimosa School is well-known for the excellence of its Training Offer Plan which tries to combine the value of traditional cultural and pedagogical experiences, the requirements of our times, and the expectations and challenges of the future.
From this point of view, the Training Offer Plan of Mimosa School has been enriched by implementing the Italian/English Bilingual Project, in the interest of many parents and strongly desired by the principal, who has extended it to all classes of the Primary School, thanks to a team of motivated and adequately trained teachers.
The bilingual curricular organisation at Primary School provides that each class is staffed with two main teachers, one responsible for the Italian curriculum and one for the English curriculum. The two main teachers have the same amount of teaching hours per class, in order to grant the same percentage of activities in both languages. The two main teachers of each class work in synergy, and manage to achieve the full implementation of all goals set in the integrated curriculum.
Moreover, the staff in charge of each classroom at the Primary School also include other professionals and expert teachers in other disciplines, such as music, art, physical education, and computer technology.
This team not only allows the children to achieve their full potential, but also allows a perfectly balanced development in every subject, whilst simultaneously guaranteeing the acquisition of knowledge and solid skills in the main disciplines by using two languages in a spontaneous and fluent way.
To achieve this, every classroom of Primary School is required to follow a timetable which includes lessons every morning Monday through to Friday, from 8.20 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., and two/three mandatory afternoon lessons from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
In addition, Mimosa School offers the option for children to attend an after-school service to families in need of covering the hours in non-mandatory afternoons.
Eventually, Mimosa School’s Training Offer Plan is enriched by additional activities and projects for the students to attend during the school year, according to the schedules of each class. Among these events, there are theatre and cinema shows, the planning of shows, themed field-trips, contests of different kinds (literary, artistic), visits to museums and exhibitions, the participation in various solidarity events, instructive trips, competitions, sport races, etc.
With the object of optimising results, we have started a close collaboration with the Preschool and have implemented an integrated curriculum aimed at guaranteeing continuity between the two levels of school.
